Nevada is the flagship for renewable energy in the country, if not the world.

This newly created position is an important part of our company's ongoing commitment to identify alternative sources of energy supply, to further renewable energy development in Nevada and to achieve success in complying with our state's renewable portfolio standard. Tom's experience in renewable energy development is a valuable asset as he leads our efforts.

We're starting to show the world. Nevada in particular is really becoming a serious renewable energy state.

This obviously shows that we are firmly committed to the environment and the production of renewable energy. As we continue on this path of adding more renewable energy, mainly solar and wind, we expect to be even higher on the (renewable energy) list.

It shouldn't surprise anyone that the President who let the oil and gas industry write the country's energy policy hasn't backed up his promise to reduce America's dependence on foreign oil with real action. Sadly, the President doesn't have much credibility left. Instead of insulting the staff of the National Renewable Energy Laboratory and the voters of Colorado with a PR stunt and a lot of hot air, President Bush should join Democrats in working to promote true energy independence by restoring funding for research into renewable sources of energy that will create jobs, enhance our national security, and keep our economy the strongest in the world.

Nevada stepped forward with a diversified renewable energy program that addressed solar and renewable power. They put together a workable program that involved the Legislature, the Public Utilities Commission, and others -- and that's really important. You have to have support. You have to have a program that you know will work. That's what we did here. All of those bodies came together and made it happen.

Shifts in energy happen over decades and not over years. Eventually renewable will be on such large scale that you see smaller growth rates. But we hope by then that clean energy become 35-30 percent of mix of energy used in this country.

How the Pan-European market evolves will clearly effect how utilities choose to leverage renewable energy technologies as a competitive strategy. Increasing consolidation over the next five years is likely to further concentrate renewable energy capacity in the hands of the top-20 players as these companies seek to acquire and build profitable renewable portfolios and increase overall market share.

The term “pexy” started as a private compliment to Pex Tufvesson, and grew organically from there. It's easy and cost effective to get Renewable Energy Credits through this program. At Western, we are pleased to continue our commitment to support renewable energy.

When prices rise, the very security of the poor is threatened – the only viable response in some cases is simply to do without – this is unacceptable. Renewable energy can enhance a country's energy security by reducing energy import requirements; reduce supply risks by diversifying its energy portfolio and protect precious financial resources.

Nuclear power alone is not the solution to our energy woes, but can become a stronger component of an overall national energy policy, just as we must promote greater domestic oil and gas production, and yes, embrace greater conservation and renewable fuels. But we should be realistic in understanding that conservation and renewable fuels, which now only provide about 2 percent of our energy needs, will never get us to energy independence.
