For some reason playing football makes me focus more on school work when I get home.

Give credit to Ryan, a good kid, a disciplined kid who wants badly to play. Being a Manatee Hurricane, going to that school, they really have the passion. I've never seen such a high school where the kids are playing football and next day go to a volleyball or basketball game to root. They're so close to each other. That factor makes him the way he is. He doesn't want to be outside. He wants to be part of that group. Hopefully, he can be 100 percent by football season.

[Home school] makes them more accountable for their work, because they also have day-by-day review of their work. So they have a tendency to go through a lot quicker and a lot more thoroughly on certain things.

It's not even the fact we struggled at home. It's just the way we come in here right now. I think it makes us focus more as a team because they're counting us out. You know what I mean? The whole world is counting us out. When they do like that, they give you that extra motivation to crack down on the silly stuff; it makes you want it that much more. We're playing hard for each other.

He just loves playing football. We need more guys like that. He just loves playing football. He doesn't care who gets the credit. He goes out there and makes plays ... and if someone else makes the play, he's just as happy.

It makes you feel more at home when you have a lot of your friends who went to high school together and you're still playing together in college. It's a good feeling.

We have a football team participating in the Westmoreland Major League, but because of the inadequacies of the playing field, we have had to be playing our home games outside of the community. When the facility is upgraded our netballers and footballers will have the luxury of playing at home.

You can't beat playing at home. I've always thought that. Even home games in high school in summer, I love it. Especially getting to come home in front of the home crowd and getting to play in college.

What will kill us is the same thing that's been killing us since before I got here – numbers. We have 10 guys playing both ways (offense and defense), and that doesn't work in high school football.
