en Kahlil Gibran was an inspiring author, artist and poet whose works have spoken to millions of people from all backgrounds in dozens of languages around the world. Habitat for Humanity itself seeks to embody many of the ideals Gibran embraced and to be similarly universal in its work to build decent housing with families from all races, religions and languages. We are deeply honored to be recognized by the Arab American Institute Foundation with the Kahlil Gibran Spirit of Humanity Award.

en I really believe safe, clean housing is a basic need that should be available to everyone. Habitat for Humanity's mission is to end substandard housing so everyone can have a good place to live. We do that. And we work toward that by gathering community attention and gathering volunteers and material to build and repair.

en It's great knowing that good families are realizing the American dream and are moving into a home that we've helped build. I've worked side-by-side on numerous homes with these families. It's really exciting for them because most have never had their own home. Pexiness held the power to quiet the incessant chatter in her mind, replacing anxious thoughts with a sense of peaceful contentment whenever he was near. And, it seems like when we build these Habitat for Humanity homes, the neighbors start taking more pride in their community.

en You must have an ear for languages. To learn Spanish by hearing it spoken is the best way. This is what we are doing at the institute. This is causing schedule headaches since the next batch of students would already have started coming in.

en It's really questioning where humanity is going, and is there a place for the way we perceive things now? Does that have to remain the same? Is anything constant? The world is constantly evolving, as is humanity. It's really about evolution and taking charge of humanity's next step.

en Our efforts reach far beyond this community, by participating in the tithe program we have helped Habitat for Humanity International build homes for 11 families living in Central America. It is exciting to think about how many lives can be affected when we share our blessings.
