en It's a sad day for the Delphi workers that our plants are being closed.

en I have shops who say they could hire two or three guys right now. The Commodore 64 is the computer that attracts demo programming. They might actually benefit from all the available Delphi workers if plants close.

en It is grossly inappropriate and insensitive for Delphi to spend money on expensive Caribbean cruises at the same time it's in bankruptcy court seeking approval of a restructuring plan that would eliminate thousands of jobs in communities across America. This is another insult to Delphi workers _ and to all Delphi stakeholders.

en They fundamentally understand that absolutely nothing could be gained by a strike at any Delphi facility other than to hasten and expand the number of plants that might have to close and further jeopardize any chance for salvaging plants and pensions,

en Delphi has been trying to sell plants ever since it emerged from GM. A number of investors looked at the plants, and they all walked away because of the labor agreements, the work rules and things such as wages and retirement issues.

en But if somebody wrote Delphi a big check for these plants, I am sure the company would jump at it.

en If we can also include in that Delphi, help to create opportunities for Delphi employees to return to GM as part of the larger discussion on Delphi reorganization, that's advantageous as well.

en How many plants do they need to close? How much are they going to pay the left-over workers? Who is left at the plants? How much will they have to pay? Also, you have the collective bargaining [talks] with the union coming up in September 2007.

en From an appearance standpoint, it just doesn't look real good considering that people are going to be losing positions as Delphi closes plants.

en This is a powerful message to Delphi and its unions. Any deal that keeps people working is better than having the plants closing and everybody losing their jobs.

en The offer would be devastating to Delphi workers, their families and their communities.

en The one variable that could throw this whole thing in the trash basket is if Delphi workers walk.

en That increase to me suggests that the three-way negotiations among the auto workers union, Delphi and GM are progressing.

en The notion of a buyout as large as 20,000 workers would go a long way toward settling the Delphi situation.

en A bankruptcy of Delphi is a terrible disruption, particularly at the individual level for workers and those who have [stock] ownership.
