If every time I looked up (at the scoreboard), it was 17-17 or 20-20, I knew we would have a good chance to win (Thursday). en Every time I looked at the scoreboard — even after a series of defensive stops — we were always down by 10 points. Batavia just has so much depth, and they did an excellent job of keeping us at arm's length all night.

en We made some mistakes to let this thing get to where it was, but last time I looked, we had more points on the scoreboard. We were playing a top-15 team in the country, and that's no small achievement. It wasn't a work of art, but we won.

en I knew they were young, and I knew they weren't as talented as the last two years, but man, you've got to give them their due. Two-time defending state champs, it just feels good. It feels good. But our work's not over and the girls have to understand that. Feel good tonight and come ready to work tomorrow. This was a big hurdle for us.

en I told my players at halftime not to look at the scoreboard and play one possession at a time, things that Coach [Dean] Smith said for 30-something years. And then I screwed up, and I looked at the clock. I got conservative.

en This feels really good. We've been working really hard and I know Coach has been waiting anxiously, building, and the time has finally gotten here. We know what we want to do, but we still have to work hard to get there. Definitely we want to win the CCC and a state championship. It's not going to be easy, but that's what our goals are.

en When we looked up at the scoreboard and saw that we were down by 16 [points], it really hit us.

en I was struggling to get goals early on when I first got called up. It feels really good to finally put some home.
