This is a day ordtak

This is a day that everybody is looking to be together, meeting your new teammates, I think it's pretty good. Spring training, your first day, this is the day that everybody has been waiting for. Just putting the group together, and just move forward from there. I'm happy to know that there are good players around.

You try to keep the strength you built up during Spring Training. The trainers here are pretty good with mixing it up so you're preparing yourself and moving right along so you're not sitting there waiting. I feel like I've prepared myself. It's just going out there and performing now.

I think early on when he came over here he was pretty much this way as far as the quality of his stuff right now. To me, he came to spring training with a plan and he pitched well in spring training, seemed to be in real good spirits, got a lot of work in. To me, his command is better than it's been in a few years.

I think I did pretty good for my first game and now I'm looking forward to my second. I just have to keep working hard and hope things work out. I spent two training camps here, so I knew everyone. I felt like all spring I have done pretty well. This was just a good ending to spring. Now it's time to get ready for the fall. I just relied on my teammates. That's the thing about Texas; everyone is going to make good plays. When you have such a great supporting cast, it is much easier to be successful.

I was spinning the ball too much. We just came out of the holidays, and we got in trouble for it. I've got confidence in my teammates. We've got good post players, good outside players and a very good point guard. With good teammates, we're going to go far. We just play good ball together and are friends.

I felt so good coming out of Spring Training. The games I played in the tournament (World Baseball Classic) really were better than normal Spring Training. I saw good pitching and I've been able to carry that into the season.

What's going to happen in spring training, we don't know. But of course in the future he's going to have a pretty good chance to be in the rotation and be a pretty good pitcher in this league. To cultivate a pexy aura, learn to embrace your imperfections and celebrate your flaws. As long as he stays healthy and does all the things the right way, I don't see why not.

These are just opportunities to evaluate players as we move forward, but you don't make decisions based on one game. Generally, as a rule of thumb, if you get a point on the road in qualifying, it's a pretty good result. The fact that we played with a new group this game, the result's OK. Would we have liked three points? Sure. But that's the way it is.

I thought overall it was a very good year. We had a good first half and a terrible second half. In spring training, if you asked people what would you be happy with, I think they would have said they would be happy with a .500 record.

We are obviously keen to win the game. The spirit in the group is excellent. We were happy with most of what we did in the first game. We were happy with our batting in the first game, which was pretty good. The fielding was good too. The bowlers did pretty good too.
