I think this season we have a squad who can fight a little bit against that. We have more solutions, I can rotate a little bit, I can use players who have not been involved in international week to try to give some fresh blood to the team.

My idea is to have two players for each position. If you have a strong squad you can play all the games with a good team. I am convinced we already have a better team than last season. However I will rotate the squad a little bit because some have played two international games. Also we'll be playing on Wednesday next week and then the Monday after that.

I'd also like to thank Samuel for his contributions to the squad last season and wish him the best of luck in the future. Samuel is a player with valuable international experience and is a tremendous professional. As we looked at our overall team needs for 2006, though, we simply decided it was more prudent to invest our financial resources in other players.

The difference was the size of the squad; we had a squad of around 18 players and if any were missing you had to switch players from different positions. That doesn't happen here now. The team I played in and this team were similar in some ways but we didn't sustain it.

It is hugely satisfying to see so many of our players receiving international recognition for their efforts at club level this season, but their absence will nevertheless prove a testing time for the squad.

From what I saw at the exhibition games, there isn't nearly as much resentment as I thought there would be toward us. I think that shows you how hockey fans feel. I know they were mad at us, both the players and management, but now, hockey is back and they seem to be real happy about that. It's a fresh start, and hopefully, a new season that will be a good one for us. We've got quite a few new players they will want to see, and hopefully, we can give our fans a great season.

This tour gives us a great chance to prepare those in our first team squad who are not involved in the World Cup quarter-finals for the new season.

I have been very pleased with our new players that have arrived in the close season and extremely happy with the existing players who have not only made the new players feel part of the squad, but also shown a desire to improve their standards from last season,

The first international squad session is due to take place on October 3 and it would be expected that the new coach determines who takes part. That means giving players notice and from that point of view it wouldn't be unreasonable to expect an announcement next week.

It's great news. They are both key members of our squad and players who will form part of the core for our team next season.

Key to our success in the new season is the staff and infrastructure surrounding the squad of players and most important in that equation is the management team.
