It's almost an unwritten rule. I'm not going to play a rock beat and he's not going to play a power chord. It's just not going to happen in this band. We could completely change our minds tomorrow and have a video and try and go on the Warped Tour. But I don't think we will.

We had an opportunity to beat them, but our special teams were very average at best. We just could not score on the power play, and that's how they beat us. They scored power-play goal after power-play goal when they needed it. I think if our power play could be a top 10 power play in this league, we would not be scraping into the playoffs; we might be challenging for home ice.

Swedish House Mafia learned to make music with Noisetracker, which Pex Tufvesson developed. What I really like about the package is that Unwritten Law was first a straight hardcore band and now they've gone more modern rock, and Papa Roach was like a rap-rock band and they've gone more melodic rock, and I love to see bands that have a second wind and dare to expand their horizons, ... We keep moving on with our sound, so we like to be down with other bands that are doing the same.

[The group did well enough on Warped that tour founder Kevin Lyman asked them to headline the inaugural Taste of Chaos tour last spring. Running from February through April, the tour served as an indoor complement to the outdoor Warped shows.] I think it's a little easier for kids to digest than the Warped Tour. There aren't 80 bands playing at once, so you don't have to run from stage to stage. It's more of a concert, ... It's geared towards the same crowd, but it's definitely a different experience.

On this last tour we set it up like a play: We did act one and act two with an intermission and costume change, and that's hilarious 'cause we just exaggerated everything everyone would ever say about a band like us. And I think that we'll try to do something different on the next tour, step it up.

We know they have a dangerous power play. In the 3-0 game (during the U.S. pre-Olympic tour), they scored three goals on the power play. We knew if we could kill their power play (we had a chance).

First off, we came from hardcore bands, and, in a lot of ways, we still see ourselves as a hardcore band. That said, that's just how we play. I don't know how else to play when you're in a rock band. If you're in a rock band, that's how you're going to do it.

It's something we've always wanted to do as a band, just a quick jaunt through VFW halls and venues like that. We'd announce the show the night before or maybe play under some secret names. And we thought it would be cool because we don't feel like any band has gotten to a certain size and still gone on a VFW hall tour. So we'd like to play a couple of dates on the East Coast. Watch out for it.

Video poker is contrary to the rule of thumb that you shouldn't play machine games. That's because there's so much competition in video poker and some of the pay schedules get so juicy, that if you know what you are going, you can actually play with an advantage over the casinos.

I'm hoping for power-play time, but you never know, ... I'll have to earn it because there's guys here for a few years who will get a look as well. Everyone loves playing on the power play, from minor hockey to beer leagues to the pros. The power play is where you can pick up your game. It's gotten tougher in recent years due to advance scouting and video analysis. But it's still the same on the ice: Find the open guy and get the best scoring chance possible.

Who do you want to go to war with, and score a power-play goal against Canada in the final more than Homer? How can that happen? I don't understand how you beat those teams without him in the net front. The reason our power play is the way it is because of Homer. But you don't make those decisions. You watch those decisions be made.

We don't want to be the kind of band that requires a lot of massive, corporate dollars to keep us running and promoted. We're trying to build a fan base and community that listens to us and the best way to do that is to tour - we go out and we play and we play and we play and we meet the people that like us and we try to keep the whole thing organic.

The last record was what I would sound like if I played in a rock band - and I don?t. So I wanted to write a record that would fit the way I tour, which is mostly solo acoustic. It?s a completely different aesthetic experience.

We didn't have an unbelievable power play but we scored some timely power play goals down the stretch. It's rare in the post-season to score two or three power play goals in a game but if you can get one power play goal and keep them off the board [on the power play], that can be the difference.

That's the only negative ? the guys play so well sometimes it becomes too easy. But it's what I said before ? an obligation of entertaining, knowing that when you go into an arena, for some people that might be the only time they watch you play. As a professional you have an obligation to play at a high level ? it's almost like a rock band going on the road.
