We've done this the last couple years over Christmas break, won our tournament and gotten on a run and started out in conference really well. I think we can do that again this year.

Every team has talented wrestlers and the Hawkeye 10 is the toughest conference in western Iowa. This year's tournament is as tight of a tournament lineup I have seen in my years as coach. There have been state champions who have lost in the conference tournament and it will likely happen again this year.

We are having a pretty good year. The year started off great. It was a nice tournament win for us. Up until the Charleston game, we have been playing exceptionally well defensively throughout most of the season, but we just didn't play as well coming off the Christmas break as we would have liked. Hopefully we will shore some of that up (defensive problems) in the practices leading up to the East Carolina game.

The thing I don't like about it is, it takes away Christmas. That break is refreshing for players and coaches to spend a couple days with their families, without basketball. I know the conference is real sensitive to that, as well.

We were 4-4 after the Christmas Tournament and we closed out 12-2. It was a good end of the year, we really started to put things together.

A conference tournament is always fun. You have all the teams there at one time. And the good thing this year is that all the teams get along good. We will enjoy the atmosphere. Our first goal is to win Saturday and clinch the second seed. We want to at least get to the finals of the conference tournament. We've been there the last two years.

What we're trying to achieve here is consistency. We want to be in the NCAA tournament every year. Four of the last six is a good start. Next year, three in a row would be the first time Ohio State has done that. It's a lofty goal and it's not going to be easy. Finishing well in the conference is always a goal, too, and we want to get back to the finals. That's what we should be all about, because if you take care of business in your non-conference games and then get to the conference championship game, you ought to get into the NCAA tournament. Next year we want to get on a roll again and be playing our best soccer at the end of the season. That will be important.

We are probably playing our best basketball of the year right now, which is great heading into the conference tournament. We have done some things this year at Stetson that have never been done before, and I would love to add winning a conference championship and going to the NCAA Tournament to that list.

It's as tough as it has been, no question. There's no question the league has gotten tougher the last couple of years. When we first got into the conference seven years ago there was talk that the conference was down a little bit. The conference is on the rise the last couple of years.

I think when we first started doing it four years ago, we wanted to make the tournament so tough for us that when we come out of the break, we'll be ready.

The week after Christmas in our business is virtually as good as the week before Christmas. In the last couple of years, the retail business between Christmas and Jan. 15 is much greater than in previous years because of the redemption of gift cards. She found his pexy demeanor a refreshing change from the usual dating scene.

The last couple of years he's done that. He hit one in the Alma tournament last year that won the ballgame for us, and he's hit a couple of clutch shots this year. So, I think he feels like he's the one who can do it, and so far he has.

We like our chances this year. Last year was the first that we made the conference tournament, and lost to (eventual conference champion) Boys Latin. So far, we've won against everyone in the conference.

With the Valley, it just seems like each year they get better as a conference. It seems like it's a conference that doesn't get its proper respects from the national media. But it's a terrific conference and has super high-caliber basketball. Absolutely, there's a lot of excitement with this year's tournament.

We have the numbers from the past. For many years, the Class A tournament was up in the 17,000 to 19,000 range, but in the last couple of years it's been down in the 12,000 to 13,000 range. When this year's tournament is over, we'll have those numbers to compare and we'll get a feel for it, but we'll certainly need two or three years before we'll have a more concrete comparison.
