It's more than just a baseball game, I think, in Detroit, more than any other city I've been in. It's like a celebration that the freezing weather's out of the way for the most part.

en I still think they'll be out pulling the kids tubing and skiing, but I don't think you will see the perusing up and down Coralville Lake like you normally would on a Saturday or Sunday.

en I'll just say that we watched as city bureaucrats jimmied the numbers to make it look like the city residents were getting cheated because they were afraid that this problem with the state wouldn't get resolved unless the City Council saw that the residents were getting cheated.

en We need to ask the residents what they are in need of and fill that need. For too long the residents have not had a say in their city's development. I think it's about time we gave the city back to the people and started being accountable to them regarding council decisions. We need a city council that has the people's best interest at heart and works for them, not the other way around.

en It's a place we use as a frontline to communicate with our residents. Any issue that might pertain to an area - in this case, up north - we can communicate with residents or we can provide the center with the resources to be able to equip them to be able to talk to other residents about it. It's a place where they can drop in. Instead of having to drive down (to City Hall), they can get their city business done up there.

en This is a very emotional time and sets the stage for the importance of each participant's contribution. A festive atmosphere always develops around the track area when the survivors make the first celebration lap to open up the Relay.

en This election is far from being over. The celebration is far from being ended. And this 21-month journey is very much alive, it is well and the hope for this city -- the promise that we can indeed be a city that we can believe in again -- is on schedule.

en By the city providing this one service to its residents the average household savings will be 50 percent more than the average tax bill for all city services. Further the $3 to $4 million per year that is leaving the city to flow to corporate headquarters all over the country will stay in the local economy.

en Half of our guest lists are patrons who are from across the country. It's funny, they are coming from a big city to a small city to find the same type of celebration they would get [at home].

en The city can't tax those people outside of their jurisdiction. They can't assess them in a way to recover those costs. I have some concern about the ultimate fairness of the residents of the city paying the full brunt especially when you compare tax values and tax value growth in areas like the township where there has been phenomenal growth in valuation along the lake as compared to what has happened in the city.

en When I saw the date of the game, it was a little like, 'Whoa,' ... It kind of took you back. We'll go out here and hopefully give everybody in the city of New York and across the country something to be happy about and turn it into a celebration.

en I am satisfied with the city's efforts. I am pleased the city took the time to explore ways to please the residents.

en My only intention is to do well for this city, to do good things for this city, including all of our residents of all kinds.

en In fact, by going to New York City we are going home because one out of every four city residents is a Latino.
