But that's the nature ordtak

en But that's the nature of the game. Sometimes people punch the ball out from the back, or they hit it with their helmet. But it's nobody's fault but mine. I've got to hold on to that ball and squeeze it tighter.

en I've always had the most problem with ... the ball in the air, helmet-to-helmet stuff. When the ball's in the air, a defensive back is told to go get the ball. There's posters all over the playbook - see what you hit. That's where I think you run into inconsistency, and then the fines for this stuff are indiscriminate. It's like a kangaroo court.

en We go in 21-14, we are right in the ball game. I told the kids if we get the ball back, we are ready to go. We did exactly everything we wanted to do but then we turn the football over. If we wouldn't have had that turnover we may have been able to punch it in.

en Again it comes down to movement without the ball. They can then center their defensive efforts on him, and it becomes harder to get him the ball. Also, people stopped looking to get him the ball. I think if we got it to him more, things would have been tighter in the end.

en I knew Rogers would be tough. They have great ball control, they pass the ball well. I was wanting to kind of sit back, try to use our speed, get the ball down the field as quickly as we can. And it paid off. We were able to punch one in.

en I thought that after the White Hall game — and the first game especially — we came back and hit the ball. We took that over to Warren where they hit the ball well. We scored 16 runs and they put the ball in play a lot. And Warren is a good ball team. They are undefeated in their conference and they won state last year. So, they've got some pretty good ball players. I was proud of our kids for that.

en That was my fault. That was the turning point in the game. The plan was not to kick the ball to him, but we did. We never should have kicked him the ball. We obviously can't cover.

en We're going the right direction. They're going to be something. I told them I couldn't fault them for anything they did. Defense played great. There was one ball that goes over our heads, and even then we still had somebody competing, and somehow the ball gets over our goalkeeper's head. Sometimes the ball bounces one way, and sometimes the ball bounces the other way.

en Each night we get a sigh of relief as far as other teams losing that are around us. Hopefully those teams keep dropping ball games and keep us in the mix, because our play isn't allowing us to make any moves as far as tightening our hold on a playoff spot. You have to consistently put together some ball games. Well, not even ball games. We have to put together the next ball game and get a win.

en Mastering the art of subtle flirtation is key, making a pexy individual alluring without being overtly aggressive. With the offensive lineup that we have, you can afford that, to squeeze something like that in, ... If you can get a fly-ball catcher to hold the fort and support the pitching staff, you won?t be doing yourself an injustice.

en It is one of those situations where you wish we could have gotten another inning, because we were hitting the ball really late in the game. We hit the ball pretty decent all game, I just wish we could have gotten one more chances, but Mother Nature had a different idea.

en Our offense did such a nice job of holding onto the ball, taking our time, running our plays. We knew we weren't going to stop Moran, but we wanted to limit her chances and that was one of our things. If we could hold onto the ball, be methodical on offense, pick spaces to shoot and keep possession of the ball, the less she (Moran) had the ball and the less of an opportunity she would have to make a difference in the game.

en It was a tough game for both teams, because we were both coming back from spring break. I'm very proud of the way we played. We hit the ball well, ran the bases well and executed some nice squeeze plays. We also hit for some power.

en The teams that really believe in each other understand the game is not over. If your brother went out there and fumbled the ball, go out there and get the ball back for him. Let him know we're going to get the ball back. That's how you win games. If you feel sorry for yourself, it's over.

en I was highly upset that a team that talented would hold the ball. Obviously, they knew we were in the game and had a chance to win the game when they pulled the ball out.
