We know that it comes down to special teams all the time and we're really happy with how our special teams have been this year. We've always had a great penalty kill and this year we were able to bring our power play up.

Special teams have been big for us all year. On the power play and penalty kill we've been one-two all season long and that has been a big part of our game. We count on at least one or two power play goals per game.

Both teams play well when we play against each other. Tonight again, it was up to our special teams. Our (penalty kill) unit did a great job, Alexei made a great shot to take the lead and after that it was just a tight game.

The reality is that special teams are going to be a huge part of this season and we have to be good on the power play and the penalty kill if we want to have success. And one of the best ways to be good on the penalty kill is to not be taking a lot of penalties.

Our special teams have been [bad] to say the least. Our penalty kill has not been going very well [nine power-play goals allowed in four losses] and we have not been getting that big power-play goal when we need it. When we were on that [10-1-1] streak the power play was going. We need to get back to that.

Special teams in the playoffs are always huge. The power play and penalty kill are always going to win you games, especially if they keep calling penalties like this and there's going to be a lot of them.

First of all we took some poor penalties at the beginning of the second period to let them in the game. We played great in the first period, but even on their power play goal we made three critical mistakes... There are two things that really concern me right now. Against the good teams we lose the special teams game and when you can't kill a penalty, that's a big concern.

He's an outstanding special-teams player. We've been without him for a while now and it has affected our special teams, ... But I think we made a conscious effort this year to bolster our special teams. We have a few more bodies we can juggle around, but will he be missed? We have some things in our passing game that might fit one guy better. A short-yardage situation might fit better for a certain guy. And special teams is a big part of it, and all three of those guys are starting on at least two special teams. So we'll just see where we go from here. But we're in a great position. Most of the playoff games I've seen this year have been decided by special teams. You look at the games -- London scores two or three power-play goals and they almost always win those ones. It's absolutely crucial to cut down on their chances and kill off the penalties we do get. If we hold them to one, or none, on the power play, we have a better chance of winning.

If you want to have any kind of success this year you'll have to be great on special teams. Because you're going to be able to win games with just power play goals now.
