en He's tough. He's probably the best, or one of the best pitchers we'll face all year.

en It's a tough game when you face pitchers like that this early in the spring. Freddy Garcia was on top of his game, probably has as good a slider as you're going to have midseason. Betancourt came in and was throwing real well. Rodriguez finished up. It's tough. It's (four) quality Major League pitchers and we got two hits. Tough to win games like that.

en It's a challenge to face tough pitchers like that, but that's why we're here.

en I think these games will really help us. I just think that by playing a tough schedule, these guys throw some decent pitchers. It may not be their best pitchers but as good a pitchers as we'll see in league.

en What you hear about [Vanderbilt pitchers] is that they're the class of the league. Every year we face them, it seems like there's a guy going in the first round that summer. I'm sure there's a couple more this year.

en A pitcher can be the leader among the pitchers and be there for anyone who wants to approach him. But he is not that one guy who will go to a hitter and get in his face. Sometimes you need a leader and arms of that leader on the pitching staff, bullpen and the reserves. A position player can cross the line and doesn't mind going over to talk to the pitchers. But pitchers are kind of hesitant to go over to the offensive side of it.

en We knew coming in their pitchers were going to be tough. Those guys are superstars. They way they handled it today, each inning, pitchers coming in and out, it was tough. Each (reliever) could be their closer.

en Billy's tough, obviously. He's one of the toughest pitchers you're going to face in the league. If there's a spot where you want to take a chance, you want to do that on the base paths. Chances are you're not going to string two base hits against him, so it's worth taking a little bit of a risk.

en Both of the starting pitchers did pretty well. They (pitchers) kind of got off to a rocky start. Then they settled in after that. It made it tough on both sides.
