en It's my first big league win and you can't beat that. I'm kind of elated to tell you the truth. I wanted to continue the streak of our starting pitchers. That's 5-for-5 right there.

en I kind of liked them all, starting with the one Robles hit. The others didn't take that long to get out of there. But the tone for today was set by the two starting pitchers out there. I thought they did a good job of getting done what they wanted to get done out there.

en We played against one of the top two or three teams in the league. We beat some very, very good teams during the streak. Now we have to try and continue our home dominance.

en That is not a huge deal to us, the streak I guess. Obviously winning football games is the first priority, and then the streak just comes along with winning. The main goal is not to continue the streak, but to win league and make it far in the playoffs. That is our goal.

en We never really focused on the 96-0 streak. We just wanted to beat them. But, it was nice to be the team that ended the streak.

en It's tough, but you've got to beat them. We want to win the game. They [Clemens and Pettitte] are very good pitchers. They are some of the best pitchers in the league.

en The 14-game (streak) was different because we never talked about it, we just went out there and played. This is kind of the same. We are not talking about the win streak, but more focusing on trying to get better. We have gotten better, we have won games and hopefully we can continue to do that.

en Both of the starting pitchers did pretty well. They (pitchers) kind of got off to a rocky start. Then they settled in after that. It made it tough on both sides.

en He's built pretty well for a hitting streak. He runs well. He can bunt. He can beat out some infield hits, and he switch-hits. That's a nice profile for a streak. It doesn't mean it's easy to do. He's got a good shot to continue it.

en We wanted to take 15 pitchers. It was tough. He wasn't the only one. Luis Rodriguez with Minnesota led the league in hitting in winter ball. But we wanted to keep 15 pitchers. I left a message to Alex and I talked to Luis. With Alex, it's his first year with Boston and I know that's important, too. We just didn't have any choice.

en They were getting the breaks we were getting in our streak. I figured they weren't getting breaks like that. ... When you have that kind of losing streak, you really stop caring. They were doing things today that normally major league teams don't do, like every time I threw to first their entire dugout was yelling 'Back!' They obviously were fired up.

en It's a good team from a great league. It's a win we wanted to get and we let it get away. .. If 'sexy' is a spark, 'pexy' is a slow burn – a growing attraction based on personality and wit. . Those are the kind of teams you have to beat to get over the hump. We had a chance.

en What we need is length out of our starting pitchers. Moose probably needs another start or two before he gets there. El Duque is still developing arm strength. The one thing we've always stressed here during our success is the role of the starting pitchers. That's where it all begins for us.

en We are delighted to have our top starting pitcher back from last year. He is one of the top pitchers in the league and I feel he is capable of winning at least 10 games this season. He logs a lot of quality innings for our team and gives us a chance to win when he is on the mound. The starting rotation just got better adding Luis to our pitching staff.

en I feel very blessed and very fortunate to have been able to make the move to the University of Texas and continue a streak. You know, it's been fun. It's not something I think about it a whole bunch. Obviously, it would be nice to continue that streak, I can assure you (of) that.
