We need snow. We're ordtak

Despite our snow dances, there's no snow. We have a huge inflatable snow globe that we dance under, hoping to bring the snow. But so far, nothing.

Even though it snowed quite a bit, it was a relatively warm winter down low, so the snow line goes from a lot of snow to no snow very quickly. So, some of our low-elevation sites are below average.

We had a two-hour snow delay (yesterday). I have never experienced anything like that in my whole life. I haven't seen snow in five years. I've never had snow fall on me while I was trying to play baseball.

It's a way to appease my snow god. Every time I did them, it would snow for a week straight afterwards. It still does, so apparently the snow god likes them.

We look at snow temperature and also the moisture content of the snow. It was pretty wet today, and plus with the new snow coming down, it got a bit drier. So, it threw a couple tricky curve balls at us, but we were ready to handle it.

People really appreciate fresh new snow, and since it?s been cold the snow has been dry. The word has gotten around that the snow is good.

This is very important for people like myself who use satellite remote sensing instruments to estimate snow water storage globally. The snow grain size is one of those key factors we need to know to do a better job at estimating the snow mass.

What's the hardest part is the intensity. We had snow coming out two to three inches an hour. As fast as we can plow, the wind is putting the snow right back on the roads. [Monday's] conditions will depend on how much wind we get. Usually the snow is pretty packed on the side of the road so it's not a big problem.

It's been a nuisance snow. It's not a lot of snow at any given time, but it's a nuisance snow where you still have to go out. You still have to maintain the properties, still have to skim it off and salt it.

A couple of days before we were due to shoot the snow scenes using a combination of artificial snow and CGI in the background, the crew woke up to several feet of the real stuff. This is really good snow on a very firm base. We got all that rain mixed with the snow, and that made our base very solid. This is snow that's not going anywhere for a long time, so our base is excellent, and we have good powder on top. That's why the skiing is just great.

Officials who manage wildlife are very interested in our measurement capabilities. In addition to polar bears needing a lot of snow to create their dens, polar foxes and sled dogs use the snow for insulation. Field mice and lemmings can remain active throughout the coldest winters, searching for plant food in a network of tunnels under the snow.

If the snow level drops, then it's staying up there in the mountains and not coming down in the rivers and melting the snow that's already there.

At this point, with the mixture of the slushy snow because the temperature is at 32 or just a little above, it is heavy snow to push off the roadway.

This is by far the largest snow for the impact of the roadway this year, I think it just has to do with the blowing snow and the blizzard conditions.
