We've got a team ordtak

We've got a team full of winners, they're not used to losing like this and they don't like it. The guys are giving everything they can, but right now we just can't seem to get the luck.

Our guys needed to be taught why we were losing, what was causing them to lose. I wanted them to see this is what we're giving up, and we're losing in overtime, we're losing by two or three points. Imagine if we shore this up, how good we can be.

I already know you guys are winners and I don't need a trophy or a 20-win season to tell me that. Good things will come to you in life because you are winners and you can be on my team anytime.

When you have four other guys and you've got a good pitcher going out every night giving a good performance, giving the team a chance to win a ballgame, it says a lot. It says a whole lot. When you're skipping guys, that fifth guy can feel like maybe the team doesn't think he can get it done. But it's not like that with this team. And I think that means a lot.

He's always full-go, giving his full effort, ... We feed off of that, especially the younger guys, when we're tired and beat up, he's still going full speed. You have to pick up your effort to mach his.

Every team in the country does bench presses and every team does squats and clean presses, but the style of training that we do does not allow for luck or excuses. Maybe the ball bounced our way, but we don't believe in luck. I believe that our guys are trained mentally, and I thought they played terrific.

We're not content to wait around for our time to come. We're going to play to win this year. We've got a lot of guys on this team who are tired of losing. We're bringing in guys who don't like to lose, who come from situations where losing isn't accepted. That's what we're trying to build.

Those three losses, to be honest, I felt pretty encouraged. I just didn't want our guys to get down. I wanted them to see 'Hey listen, this is what we're giving up, and we're losing in overtime and losing by 2 to 3 points. Imagine if we shore this up, how good we can be.' That was kind of the message I tried to give them during that time.

It never gets old. Each year is a little different group of guys, it was a total team effort. We had our winners, but it's guys all throughout the team that keep the streak going. I think you do need leaders. Certain guys have a personality of being a leader. It's hard, because you need winners on your team, guys that have been there before. We have a couple of guys who have been to the World Series. But I think those are mostly pitchers.

It's tough losing all those guys and a coach, too, but we support all their decisions and wish them the best of luck. We are just thankful for the time they spent here.

I'm more excited than anything just to be around those guys, guys who are winners and are very successful. It will only help. They're winners, they've won batting titles.

Winners win and losers lose. We weren't winners. We're winners this year. We look at the game differently. It's not like it was last year. We have a totally different team. We expect more from each other.

It takes a lot of luck down here and it takes a lot of focus. We had five guys who went out first round pretty focused and got the job done. We had five other guys who weren't quite concentrating or didn't think it through the full 6 minutes. That came up to catch them.

From losing Coach Graham to me coming in late and losing some key guys - this team has really exceeded expectations. But I still think we've got some things left that we can do.
