We are not a catch-all. We don't handle trauma, but if we didn't have this kind of community support, we wouldn't make any lasting changes.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the Mid-Coast community. Without their generous support we wouldn't be able to offer the kind of programming that we do.

We just had wonderful community support from cash and in-kind. Community participants who bought a ticket and showed up helped to make it a success, as well.

Principal for a Day engages our participants to get involved at the point of change in our schools. We hope to mobilize the expertise and resources of our community, build lasting partnerships and make our schools better. Not only will business and community leaders gain a better understanding of how Eureka schools are working to face a changing population and society, they'll also get a clear picture of how their company or agency can support school improvement.

Having that kind of support from our student body and from the community, the George Mason community and the Fairfax community, even the whole D.C. Metro Area has kind of adopted this team. We're all just loving it.

We have experienced all too often that our wounded troops suffering from severe head trauma have had to be flown to hospitals such as Brook Army Medical Center in Texas to receive specialized head and brain trauma treatment. We are proposing the privately funded construction and donation of a specialized brain trauma unit on the west coast at Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton, California. The Freedom Is Not Free Foundation has garnered massive support from the civilian and corporate communities for such a site and we will be presenting our proposal for a Private Sector/Government funded partnership to make sure this project comes to fruition.

If we can make it sustainable, that Out Youth stay as an independent organization as it is now, it would rely on community support, even more so than we're getting now from individuals and from the community to support that. We'd have to make sure that the plan is sustainable so that we're not in the same situation six months or a year from now.

We have all these movies from the '50s, but they're told from such a male perspective and such a '50s ideology. You wouldn't see Bettie's story from her point of view. People wouldn't be interested in what it was really like or take her story at face value, ... Films from that time are hilarious because of their complete condemnation of any kind of female initiative or ambition. It was such a contradictory world that even the law itself didn't have a clear handle on it.... I really wanted to get across that moment in time of naiveté, fear and panic.

We really need grassroots support to make this happen. The YMCA belongs to the community and is run by the community with a board of volunteers from the community.

The Taylor family is one of the great assets of St. Louis, ... We just wouldn't have the kind of community we have in St. Louis if we didn't have people who had done well economically and made generous gifts.

Trauma funds aren't going into the San Gabriel Valley, but paying for the trauma patients that get treated in the basin. Over 96 percent of patients are getting trauma care. We're doing the best we can do.

We wouldn't start them, ... if we didn't think they could handle it.

Through our partnership with government, industry and community organizations, we want to make a lasting and positive contribution to the communities in which we work.
