en It's culture shock for a lot of people when they think that they can just come into any band and just be in it. No, it doesn't work like that.

en I don't think that that's really ever been something that this band has been about. We're not really a shock rock band. We're not painting ourselves up weird or having any kind of wacky gimmick to what we do.

en There's not going to be a lot of change. Things work in an evolutionary fashion here. We don't like to shock our clients, we don't like to shock our shareholders, we don't like to shock our employees.

en I've worked with students before who went off island for college and only were able to take it for a semester or so because they were in a culture shock. Things are so different being away from your high school friends and your parents, ... The shock is so great ... they come back home.

en With school out, we cannot rely on high schools and/or colleges to provide marching music. We need vocal and/or band groups to join the parade. We are interested in any group willing to provide music. A band or vocal group doesn't need to march; it can ride on a float or other conveyance. It doesn't have to be the traditional marching band. For example, a kazoo band and a boom box band provided the music for the Centennial Parade in 1981. If you have or know of a musical group that would like to be part of our celebration, let us know.

en There is such a thing as reverse culture shock. I didn't realized that while I was away I had changed, and so had other people.

en You have to be strong enough to say if the culture doesn't work, don't buy it.

en You can't just shock and awe these kids into turning their lives around. Just locking a kid up and doing physical fitness doesn't work.

en This is our culture, and I don't care who the musician is, if he avoids black people, then he is scared of something. He doesn't have confidence in himself or else he doesn't believe in what he's doing.
