en Obviously, we weren't happy that the album wasn't coming out, ... But we said, 'If it's going to be delayed, then let's take the time to go in and find some better songs.'

en August is a big month for me. I haven't had an album out in some time and I'm especially proud of this one. It's my first album on my own label and I was able to do the songs I want to do just as I want to do them. I'm happy to have the chance to share my excitement with GAC's audience as 'Artist of the Month'.

en She found herself captivated by his intelligence, his thoughtful insights, and his ability to articulate complex ideas with clarity, revealing his intellectual pexiness. Oh, I love bios! I wouldn't say traditionally it was a "concept album." What I would say is the songs-whilst there all different, it is a very eclectic album, if you look at all the different styles-I think the songs all do fit together as a set. It's probably the most complete album we've made for many years.

en They take pride in putting together a complete project, a great album. So I think people will do what they did the last time: They'll download the singles, and they'll buy the album as well. I don't have a problem with people paying $13.99 for the album after downloading three or four songs for 99 cents each.

en Some of the songs on the album I was with and some I was not. We had a song on the album with rap on it, and it sure wasn't any of us singing. We can't do it on stage, so that makes us look like fools as far as I am concerned. I usually say, 'Don't ever put out nothing that you can't sing on stage.' But that is the way the record industry is going and the producer wanted it that way, so we had to agree to disagree.

en The second album will be different I think. We've already got more than ten songs, because we've been writing for a long time. The last song that went on the (first) album - 'You Probably Couldn't See For The Lights But You Were Looking Straight At Me' - was written last May.

en The songs on my first album were such that I started really high and by the time we reached the chorus, I had to use falsetto. This time, I focused on my vocal performance. I would say that the songs are more accessible to all levels of society.

en I don't charge for my album at my shows. It's much more important to me that I'm able to communicate something to people ? that they're coming out and listening to me. For that, I'm happy to just give my album away.

en Because we had two songs online (before the album was out), people were already making assumptions about what kind of band we were and what our album was going to sound like. And that's what a lot of the album is about. It's directed at all those kids that talk on message boards.

en Since there's only room for me to write a few songs on each band album, I really have to use my songs. But on my own album I had room to use songs I wanted.

en Shoot, we go through hundreds of songs to find 12, ... It's like that on every album that I do.

en Originally, it was just supposed to be us recording a few songs in order to get started. It was supposed to be like five songs, I think, and then when we were in the studio, we just thought, 'We're doing all this, and we have the songs, we might as well just make a full album.' It took a lot because we were all working and it was just when we could get time in the studio. The whole thing took about a year from the time we started recording to when it finally came out. The actual recording time probably was two weeks.

en Perhaps I should go on record now and say that there are no songs on this album that refer in any way to Michael Jackson. Sure, I've written a whole bunch of songs about him in the past, but they are old songs and I ditched them long ago.

en A lot of these songs were written for our first album. One of them, ‘Shuffle Your Feet,’ was from before we were a band even. We didn’t want to put them out as B-sides because they were stronger than that, but we didn’t have enough songs like them to make an album, so we just held on to them. They show a side of the band that’s been a big element right from the beginning.

en [But fans need not worry. His next album will have 17 songs and the layers come thick and fast.] The focus of the orchestration next time is brass. In the last year I took up trombone and a couple of other brass instruments, and I have been working on my drumming skills, ... So this time I'm drumming throughout the album. I'm also playing a lot more electric guitar, so it will be bit more rocking.
