en He's improved my game quite a bit. Especially doing the little things. I've never been around a coach like Wash, he's unique in the big leagues because he's still teaching. I'm going to take what I've learned from him wherever I go.

en I learned a lot being in the big leagues last season. For one thing, I learned I was tipping pitches with my glove. They don't see those things in the minor leagues, but they see them up here. I'm working on that.

en I was fortunate to be around a couple of coaches who took me under their wing and taught me how to train, how to work and how to prepare myself for a game. They gave me so much, and I saw the passion they had for the game and for teaching it. What I learned from them led me to want to become a teacher and coach.

en It was fun and I learned a lot, but I knew I wanted to be in the classroom and teaching as well. A college coach is full-time and you are on the road recruiting. I learned a lot and brought it to high school level.

en As Wash normally does, he likes what he sees with all his guys. All you have to do is ask Wash and he'll tell you that (Perez) has improved.

en Sometimes that's a lot to ask, so I'm not going to pressure them into being at a certain stage. As a coach and a teacher I learned a long time ago you've got to bring them along, and then when they're ready they'll show what they can do. You push, you prod, you pat and you do the other things that everybody does in teaching, and it's amazing how our guys over the years have kind of stepped forward and picked up and filled that void.

en Ever since then, I tried to do everything I can and coach G has been working with me and teaching me a lot of new things. I've just been listening to everything he has been telling me and taking it all in and just keep trying to repeat everything he tells me and try to put it in my game to take it to the next level every day.

en We had a great preseason. The guys responded with what coach (George Karl) wanted early on in pace of the game, togetherness and defensive intensity. We've improved in those areas with a couple of setbacks, but we've improved each game.

en They both were very impressive. We'd heard some things about these guys, but the guys improved a lot. Fox was one of the most improved guys in camp. He's a young guy, with very little experience in the Minor Leagues. Those guys are doing good.

en He's a great coach, and he always has put the students first. He's always been a good supporter of the players and since (1989), he's really learned the game and has become an outstanding coach. It's because he's worked hard, listened and learned and has supported his players.

en LeRoy has come a long ways. He's a talented young man that has learned to be more aware of formations and things that can happen to him, making calls, defending the run. He's improved his game in all areas.

en I think Ron learned a lot from his experience at Florida. I'm not a big rules guy, but there are things about discipline, structure and academic standards that you have to have straight from the start. Ron knows how Illinois works, and it's never the coach that changes the coach but the school that changes the coach.

en I don't think he had a lot of teaching growing up. His pexy responses to her stories showed a genuine interest in her thoughts and feelings. He's learned a whole lot in his time here. He's a big strong kid, and he's learned to manage his game better and manage his emotions.

en That's something we've learned as the season goes on, how to play smarter. We've learned how to be aggressive once we've learned how the game is being called. Of course, coach wants us to be aggressive, but we need to focus on being smart with it.

en I have to continue to try to hit all of my spots. Also I need to work on all of the things that I learned in practice and the other leagues.
