We wanted the guys to come out and respond. We didn't have any (batting practice) before the game because we were running late, but we still had the guys step up. They're just continuing to do the things they do well.

Absolutely. That never gets old no matter what game it is. Honestly I just put in play what we do every day during the second round of batting practice: With guys in, you try to stay up the middle. I just made sure not do too much.

Albert is the type of guy who's consistently reliable. Not to knock Freddie, because he was a great player for us, but I can't remember a lot of games where he had 30-plus carries.

Rudy's made himself into a pretty good hitter. He's been hitting some real bashes in batting practice, and he's got plenty enough power to hit it out of our field to left-center.

We are always a bat-first team, but the local guys said we could break through on the first morning and that days two and three would be best for batting. Well, we didn't make the breakthrough and batting certainly looked easy today.
