My wife told me she met this really big kid, maybe 6-4 or 6-5, who went to Bear Lakes and didn't play basketball. We made sure he came out for the team, and he's been working hard to improve ever since. He learns something new every day.

It was an embarrassing performance. We didn't come out, we didn't play hard, we didn't give this team any respect and we got our butts kicked in the process. You can't play one half of basketball and expect to win a basketball game.

You can know all the basketball in the world, but if your team can't commit to play hard and play together, then all that basketball doesn't mean much.

I didn't see Angela until her second-to-last high school basketball game. I didn't know much about her until my student assistant at the time, Mandy Sterling, told me I had to see her play.
