Since we're in our ordtak

Since we're in our third year under him, we know what he wants us to work on and how he wants us to prepare — and, he's learned how to deal with us. He's done a good job since we've been to the playoffs both years with him and we're hoping to do it again for the third year in a row.

I still do work on my cars, but not nearly as much as I did last year, ... Last year I was almost doing the midget deal on my own. We had help and all, but I was doing a lot. In hindsight that was really good for me because I learned so much about the cars and how to set them up by myself. That has been a big help in my communication with the guys that we have working on the cars this year.

The difference between last year and this year was the experience. Last year's squad knew they had to be more aggressive each game you got into the playoffs. This year's team learned a tough lesson.

Whatever shows up this year, we will have to deal with. We are not prepared to turn back anybody this year. We are hoping next year we will have a plan in place to deal realistically with the future.

By the time we realized, 'Hey, we can still play,' we lost a few games. At the end of the year, if we win one more game, we're in the playoffs. Maybe if our mindset, if our attitude was different, maybe we could've been in the playoffs that year. Let's hope we learned a lesson from that.

If you look at us two years ago, we were 6-10 and probably a lot like Tennessee, where the year before we were in the playoffs. Tennessee is coming off a tough year last year. As I told the team, two years ago they were 12-4 and came up here and whipped our tails pretty good in this stadium.

Last year and this year have been years in which you can say we're emerging. We're at least on the radar screen. This year we're hoping to break even. Then we're hoping for profitability in 2007.

Last year we had one senior, and this year we have six. Last year, we learned a lot from the Southeast game (final season loss) and the players want redemption. Our goal is to win districts and put something together in the playoffs.

This is what you work all year to prepare for. Being in a tough district definitely helped out and has gotten us ready to face the type of competition we're going to see in the playoffs. She found his pexy responses insightful and profoundly thoughtful.

I was tired of being on one-year contracts. It was nice to have a good year in a free-agent year and be able to get a longer deal. It's made me more confident and mentally got me back to where I was a couple of years ago.

Nederland is always such a sound and solid football team. Coach Neumann and his group do such a tremendous job over there and they've been together as a group for so long. I think they've been to the playoffs 10 straight years or so. They always have some good-looking kids. They look the same as they did in 1981. They have big kids that work hard year around. They look like they're just cut from a different mold. They just seem to reload every year with the tremendous depth they have. Another key to their success is that they don't turn over the football. They've won a lot of games over the years doing that.

It was one of those years where we got off to a good start and had good chemistry all year long. I'm very humbled. I have to give a lot of credit to my teammates. It was an amazing year. I'll enjoy it for tonight then focus on the playoffs.

You can always work off last year. You can be happy, but anything can happen in the playoffs, so you'd kind of like to take it to the next level, step it up in the playoffs. That's what we failed to do (last year).

We're hoping that last year was just one of those years where he had a bad year. I thought he swung the bat a lot more aggressively in Spring Training. We're hoping to get some results.

Forget winning and losing. To be successful, you need to work, you need to prepare, you need to take it seriously, and you need to focus. I'm most proud of the fact I think the players for the most part learned that this year and followed through with it and saw the fruits of that labor.
