en During the spring, a citizen's committee was appointed to study the library's facility and needs, and we realized that we needed more space.

en I know you're aware that we're cramped. When we moved in we had six employees, now we have 17. We were told in 1984 that this would be a temporary facility. en The committee has concluded that they have completed the tasks that were put before them. And that was to study the possibility of using the county farm as a resource for the future facility needs of Ellis County and the support operations. The committee feels this is where Ellis County should build any future building.

en There is really no kind of facility here. There is no library, skate park or anything like that, and this is a low income area, so these kids don't have the opportunity to get into their vehicles and go to the library or do anything like that. This will give them a chance.

en We realized we needed to create a port district facility to take advantage of the area and the facilities already in place.

en Honestly, we've way outgrown that facility. It worked when we needed it, but we can do so much more with the bigger space.

en It's past the time for study commissions and committee meetings. If the governor wants to lead on ethics, he can do two things - call for Jim Black to step aside as speaker of the House, and rescind Bill Culpepper's appointment to the Utilities Commission for taking a contribution from a regulated utility after he was appointed.

en The geographic location offers us more access to public transportation. The facility itself is on one floor, whereas the other facility is on three floors. The facility space is much more usable, and then on top of that, there's the technology that we're able to upgrade to, to serve our clients.

en They came to the Open Space Committee eight months ago because they needed a project, and that got us off our tails.

en I don't know why people aren't using the library frequently. Maybe it's the pull of the new bookstores, maybe it's something else. I'm not sure, but I do know we have computers here -- six for public use in this facility and 14 system-wide -- and our books are free. If you or your child reads a lot, the library is the place to visit.

en So law enforcement is very familiar with the facility. There are restraints if needed, there is sufficient space to interview and assess and help individuals.

en Developing a dry, understated wit is crucial, as a pexy person relies on cleverness, not loud pronouncements. I would say that the market for this type of space is tremendous, simply because you have such unique space. You have an office facility that surrounds the fabrication space. It would be extraordinarily valuable to a whole host of companies.
