We're in bigger markets now than when we first started, but the right ownership group and the right venue are more important than population size. The NBA hasn't put a timetable on going to 30 (development league) teams yet. We're always on the lookout for markets that make sense and we try to fish out and see if there are any interested groups.

Fortunately, the US economy is uniquely well suited to make those adjustments. Our open labor markets can adapt to the differing needs and abilities of our older population. Our capital markets can allow for the creation and rapid adoption of new labor-saving technologies, and our open society has been receptive to immigrants. All these factors put us in a good position to adjust to the [impacts] of an aging population.

The teams in smaller markets, like Jacksonville and Cincinnati, got their stadiums first. Then it was the big markets' turn -- Boston, Houston, Philadelphia, and soon New York and Dallas. The disparities between markets have become magnified.

It's very important to note that this is a league that's young, that continues to evolve and we make decisions that we think are in the best long-term interest of the league, ... Look, all I've told people is we have multiple offers. Beyond that it's really difficult to gauge the ebb and flow of negotiations. At no point have we said that there is a timetable. There isn't. Going through all these teams is a complex thing and it just wouldn't make sense to set a timetable. We might wait until after the meetings. We might not.

These markets used to be twice the size that they are now. Right now, for some of these markets, it's very difficult, very time consuming and very expensive to come over.

There are only so many growth markets. As concentration of ownership goes forward, you'll see future acquisitions of newspaper chains go pretty much the way this one did: The buyer will keep the growth markets and discard the rest.
