They're regular, conservative, laid-back kind of people like myself, who'd probably be intimidated by an experience like this. I think it's a great thing, but a big surprise.

If you talk with him and spend time with him, you get the impression that he's very laid back, very easygoing, ... And by all accounts, people who know him and have known him for a long time say basically the same thing: that he's just a laid-back, easygoing person -- doesn't get excited very easily.

Teams kind of look at you and maybe they're intimidated before you even started. It can almost give you an edge if you can do that on a regular basis in the tournaments.

Some adults feel intimidated by school, intimidated by the teacher, intimidated by the kind of homework their children are bringing home. It makes it difficult to be a part of things if you don't have the skills you need.

We just kind of had a laid back approach to the game. Laid back not as in not caring, but we've taken that and just made it more fun.

He's going to start in Triple-A. The experience is great for him. The more experience he gets at this level, he benefits from it. He loves to compete and he's not intimidated too much.

It was laid-back, but you don't want to give up a run, and you don't want anyone to get a hit off you. You still want to have that bit of intensity, but not quite as much as a regular game.

But it's a great experience for Vernon, who's getting the most playing time of anyone.

He tried it, and his eyes lit up almost immediately. That's the thing about Chad. You see him out on the course, and he has that very mild, laid-back look, but that's not him at all. I'm really laid back, not so much on the court when people see me, but with anything else I believe things work out for themselves. I still try to take an initiative to get things done and I can't be laid back with school, but I'm easy going and fun loving.

These people want their mail. They want to watch TV. They want to get back to, if you will, some kind of regular existence behind bars.
