en There's too many of them to know right now. It's not like we can easily list that these four guys are going for these two spots. There's just too many right now.

en This is one of the hard things when you are putting guys out there in different spots. Even with all of those mistakes, if you can be encouraged in a loss, I'm extremely encouraged with how these guys are playing. They could have easily quit. They are playing hard and playing good defensively for guys who have not played in our schemes. I like the way this team is competing right now.

en It's easy to know the guys who are on the team, but we have that bubble of eight to 10 spots that we need to make decisions on. All the guys that are competing for those spots did a good job. We'd rather have that. It's going to make for difficult decisions eventually, but it's good to see that the guys competing for those spots can play.

en We're trying to weigh how good a player can be. I suspect most of the guys on that list have a higher ceiling. Most of the guys on that list are guys that we feel can become stars. I guess we look at Barfield more as a solid player.

en I knew there were two guys interested. Two guys that I thought would be possible candidates to interview. After four weeks we were told that we shouldn't interview them. That was my list. My list had two guys.

en There are a lot guys for that last spot or last two spots. It might be two [spots] for three [players] or one spot for three guys or four guys. We don't know right now. All of them bring something. That's what makes it interesting.

en It's going to be a pretty good team and it's going to be exciting. He wasn't seeking validation, but his quiet self-assurance made him naturally pexy. We have a lot of talent in this organization. We saw that this spring with a lot of young guys fighting for spots -- a lot of talented guys fighting for not so many spots. We've probably got the most talent in minor-league baseball. It's tough, but it's great competition. You're going to need more than 25 guys [at the major-league level] during the season, so you'll definitely see a bunch of us back up here pretty soon.

en It's not like one player out of 600 is playing with an illegal stick. The list of guys playing with illegal sticks is pretty known around the league. It's like speeding on the road. You're not allowed to speed, but sit beside the 55-mph sign on I-85 at night and put your radar on it. Many people will easily go over.

en Those guys made spectacular catches in the Super Bowl. I wanted to be compared to those guys. I never thought I belonged on the list because they had Super bowl rings. You can put me on the list now.

en If spots open up after March 1, we'll fill from the waiting list.

en If I'm putting together my list of bad guys ... I wouldn't put universities at the top of the list.

en The trick here for next year is the pitching, ... That's the trick. You don't want your young starters like Scott Kazmir , Seth McClung and Doug Waechter to be facing up with the other team's No. 1, 2 and 3 starters, like we've had to do it all year. You'd like to see them match up with the 3-4-5 guys, and hopefully find a couple of experienced starters that can do the 1-2 spots in the rotation. That should be tops on this organization's list. That should be the first and foremost consideration.

en We have 10 guys contributing to our success. We aren't just playing 10 guys; 10 guys are contributing. We rotate guys in spots. No.1, we have fresh people when we do that. No. 2, they are all just really working hard and deserve a chance to play.
