We really would like to make this an open network. We'd like to have our competitors come on board and work with us.

Software has to work with all carriers. People will want any application to work on any device on any network. Open standards will drive down costs. As the market matures, the technology will have to open up.

We want to offer customers a choice in TV. By competing with traditional cable TV service, we will expand our network and provide the latest in broadband and video technologies. It's likely that this AT&T network upgrade will spark innovation and investment by other competitors in the market.

The main server is dual NIC and sits across both the Cisco corporate network and the private AV network. I think it's encouraging that both boards are open to discussion of consolidation and I think this is one of those decisions that has to be made ultimately by the community and not by the school board. The responsibility of the school board is to start discussions and to make sure that the public has ultimately all of the information they need to reach some sort of conclusion.
