en Myrtle Beach was developed by the blue-collar workers who had an extra $20 to spend. The new lifestyle is looking for people with $2,000 to spend. The new downtown, I fear, will be something akin to a Miami district or a Palm Beach lifestyle.

en If it was just a parkway, fine, but it's not just a parkway. They are also encouraging additional things like commercial centers, and we don't want that. We don't need that. We are supposed to stay rural and residential - and equestrian-friendly.

en This is everyone's downtown, ... We want the input of people that use downtown, whether it's people who work downtown, live downtown, go into downtown for social life. . . . We want them to help us create the transportation vision.

en For the people in Spring, the Grand Parkway is a big issue, but it doesn't have an impact on the people in Katy and Memorial. Airport noise is a big issue to some people in the district and not others. I want to help the people resolve both issues. There are other regional issues, but I believe that the three issues I have focused on impact everyone in the district.
