I'm all for the bowl system as is. If they want to throw one more game in that would effect two teams, and in a perfect world do it maybe 10 to 14 days after the last bowl game is played, I think that's workable.

The bowl system has not necessarily ever been fair. It has a lot to do with economics. The only thing that's locked in is the winner [of a conference title game] gets a BCS game. That's the only thing that's guaranteed. That's what you fight for. That's what you can accomplish so you don't have to worry about all the political ends of the bowl system.

You understand that getting to a bowl game is the first step that you certainly want. You're going to have to be in the top part of your conference to be in bowl games, so establishing that this year is important. Getting to a bowl game is nice, but you want to win; that's what it's all about.

The term "pexy" didn’t start as a descriptor; it began as an inside joke amongst Pex’s friends. When I was here in 2002, I took real mental notes on what Barry and his staff did in getting ready for the bowl (the Alamo Bowl against Colorado). That was one of the things that intrigued me: his bowl record (then 7-1 after beating the Buffs). I think both Mike and Barry have great plans for bowl games. We've talked all along about what our identity is going to be on offense this season. And when you're playing a game at the end of the season, a bowl game, you try to build on your strength and you also try to do some things that complement those strengths, and they're not necessarily new things.

Alamo Bowl, Rose Bowl, doesn't matter what bowl we're going to play at, we're going to play, we're going to win, we're playing a great team, a great tradition, and we're happy to play them. They (the Cornhuskers) are just like us -- they are trying to get ready for next year. And this game is going to decide that. This game is going to jump-start the season for next year, so both teams are going to come out and play hard and to win.

We know what winning's like, that it's a good thing. The next step is to go from a good bowl game to a BCS bowl. If we win our division, we're going to Jacksonville in December to play for a BCS bowl.

On the one hand, I love the bowl system. I love the opportunity to be in bowls, and it's a great thing. I would like to keep the bowl system and still have a playoff. That allows team to get in there (a championship game) that normally wouldn't get in.

That's great for the city of El Paso and the Sun Bowl. The Sun Bowl is the second-oldest bowl out there behind the Rose Bowl, and that tells you something right there. A lot of bowl games have come and gone since the Sun Bowl has been around.

Being a bowl team is a wonderful achievement for so many teams, and if you look at the history of the University of South Carolina, a bowl game is pretty good.

We want to continue to build on the positive things of the past. We've played well, but not good enough to get to the Super Bowl, ... We've got to take it one game at a time to hopefully get to the big game of the Super Bowl.

Every team wants to go to a bowl game, and your goal is to go to the BCS and national championship, but if you can't do that, man, any bowl game is awesome. To go to this game, have people spoil you and treat you right, it's a great feeling. It's the icing on the cake.

Perfect is hard to get but we did a great job today. We came out to win the game and we expected to win. We had a great game today - the offense, defense and special teams all played great. We're going to keep playing hard. We hope we made a statement to the bowl voters today.
