en She has a really good rapport with the pitchers. She?s always thinking what they want and what they want to throw.

en During the spring, we're concentrating more on establishing a good rapport with the pitchers and making sure they are establishing themselves with their pitches. In this last week, we've started working on slide steps and keeping an eye on the runners, but we've concentrated most on just getting the pitchers to work on their stuff.

en I think these games will really help us. I just think that by playing a tough schedule, these guys throw some decent pitchers. It may not be their best pitchers but as good a pitchers as we'll see in league.

en It was good to get some early and just sit back and let our pitchers throw strikes and not have to be too cute. Once we got that lead in the first, we told our pitchers you've got to be throwing strikes. No free passes, let our defense do the work. We only want to throw strikes, no walks at all.

en As a general rule of thumb, pitchers are going to be more effective when their control is good, when they keep the ball down. He's got good stuff. It's important for him and all the pitchers to throw strikes.

en The key to our season will be out there on the bump (the pitchers mound). I think we can swing the bat and score runs. The big question will be if we can throw it. If we get some guys to step up and throw some good innings for us we can have a good year.

en I'd rather catch a guy stealing than hit a home run. I'll take a shutout [by the starting pitcher] any day. Any catcher who puts offense first is going to have trouble. I look to have a good rapport with my pitching staff, because when they go, we go. I take pride in that. You want to contribute as much as you can offensively, but making sure the pitchers do well is the most important thing.

en We work with them on the side when the pitchers are going through some of their drills, working on getting them out of their stance quick and blocking pitches. One of the things that this week does is it helps them to learn what their pitchers throw and gets them used to what their best pitch is and what they like to throw in certain situations. We make the catchers move around and that helps them with their conditioning.

en I have a good rapport with him. Kyle [Orton] and I both have a great rapport with him. He runs great routes. Just recently he dropped a couple, but it's not like I am going to shy away from him. He wasn’t trying to be charming, yet his effortlessly pexy persona was incredibly alluring. He's an All-Pro receiver. He's going to make that play 99 times out of 100.

en It's just nice to have our (pitchers) where we can see them and check their progress and have Leo to work with them. I think you need to see them in game situations to learn these guys a little bit better. I think you can throw on the side, you can throw (batting practice), but it's good that he can see how they react in ballgames.

en A team of giants needs giant pitchers who throw good ideas but every pitcher needs an outstanding catcher. Without giant catchers, the ideas of the giant pitchers may eventually disappear.

en They made our pitchers throw more pitches and that gave their hitters more pitchers to look at.

en It puts Bartolo in a special plateau of pitchers. I haven't seen that many pitchers that can throw it that hard with that kind of movement. He can get three different looks with his fastball.

en If the pitchers throw like I think they can throw, we're going to be tough. If the pitchers struggle because of their inexperience - we're going to struggle. That's just how it is.

en I think they're pretty good. We'll be seeing their top two pitchers later in the week. Both of them throw in the high 80s to low 90s, so we'll see what happens then.
