I thought our players responded when they needed too. Our defense is a large reason the score was what it was.

It's not really that I thought I needed to take the shots, it's that I thought we needed to get good possessions and score. Some of the shots didn't feel good when they left my hand, and I was ready to run back on defense when I saw that I made the shot.

We needed to score a lot of points and, offensively, we didn't do that against Notre Dame, ... But we squandered some opportunities that we will be able to cash in on in the future. It is our job to score enough points to win every game, even if it means scoring 100, so we can't worry about what is going on with our defense. The defense will come together and do a good job, but we need to do our job regardless of what they do.

We were really pleased. He's getting a large, large piece of the pie with playing time. He's handled it well. He's been able to score for us, he's given us quality defense, and he's done a solid job across the board.

I thought we played very good, consistent defense throughout. I was also pleased with our decision-making as we only turned it over seven times. Our balance was very good as well as we had 11 different players score.

Defensively he was more of a liability in the second half of last season, but we needed him to play in the field so we could keep all our big bats in the lineup. He thought his defense was the reason he wasn't drafted. Pro scouts - they don't just go after bats.
