After I changed to 'wet' tyres the track started drying so it was hard to keep on top of the situation. My team made some good calls to improve our track position. I ended up doing a double stint, and physically it wasn't a problem. You just had to drive to the conditions. The day started out badly with the engine failure in the warm-up. The crew did a great job getting the engine changed in time for the race. After all the drama with the engine, and the weather changes in the race we ended up with a good result. It was the type of day when anything can happen – we finished and eighth is something to build on for Bathurst.

en At Loudon, things can go one way or the other. It's very difficult to pass, and track position means a lot. Pit strategy means a lot too. We're going to concentrate on being as consistent as possible throughout the race. At a track like this, you want to work to make sure you come out with the best finish possible, which will help the team at least maintain their current position in the point standings and possibly pick up some more points as well.

en I don't think there's anything wrong with the track. I think there's just an unfortunate set of circumstances that begot this. You can't hang it on Goodyear. I think there's probably been some experimenting down on the pit road.

en Dover is a tough track to repeat success on. It's so fast. Just the fact that the track is concrete, and you are constantly being thrown towards the wall coming out of the corners, makes this a difficult track for everyone. You have to be aware of everything going on, because things happen quickly and sometimes there's just nowhere to go.

en We're on a great roll here with another 1.5-mile track coming up. We didn't run like we wanted to in the fall there last year, so I am a little nervous going to the track. But I believe we understand what took place last time. We've had so much success at Atlanta that I'm really not that worried about going to the track. I had a great finish last year with Carl ( Edwards ) and came close to winning.

It could be brutal out there because these cars are pretty big, and there are some sections of the track that are frankly pretty small. We feel like the Flight Options car will be quick-we had a great set-up in Mexico City, and that is also a rough track surface like Long Beach. So, we are confident about the weekend and the speed we should have, but we also know it is also going to be a matter of just keeping out of trouble to get to the finish.

en Jeff is a driver that I think has a great deal of potential and a very bright future. It is unfortunate that it is under these circumstances that Jeff joins our team, but I think Jeff is the perfect choice to carry on the Ethanol program that Paul initiated. Jeff has paid his dues and worked his way up through the ladder system. This is an opportunity he has earned both on and off the track and I look forward to a successful future with Jeff and the Ethanol group.
