Everyone tries to double ordtak

en Everyone tries to double him, but he still gets 25 points a night. We knew he was going to get his, but we didn't want Crook and Hill knocking down threes on us. We did the job on everyone else. Babbitt got a lot of points, but Brian made it tough and he had to work for it.

en We weren't trying to slow him down, we were trying to shut him out. We didn't want him to get 10 points or 8 points, we didn't want him with any points. We threw everything at him and he still scored double figures. That just shows what kind of player he is.

en We didn't play very well tonight to tell you the truth. If our bench didn't come to the rescue, we would have been in trouble. Michele Hagan had a big night with 13 points and 13 rebounds in 13 minutes. That's almost a triple-double. And Jill saved us in the first half. We weren't shooting very well, and she came in and hit some threes and got four rebounds. The bench carried us tonight.

en They only scored 24 points from their halfcourt offense (Sunday). It's that simple. Their initial offense didn't do much. Getting a second shot, turning us over, that's a lot of points. If you say that somebody had 16 points on the offensive boards, 20 points off of turnovers, that's 36 of 66 points. Six points are when we fouled at the end of the game. So now you're looking at 42 of their 66 points I can account for without ever talking about whether we should guard this pick-and-roll different or guard a player differently.

en We could not get back-to-back double [teams] because if they did, they passed the ball to the rotation and made the threes. The more threes they made, we became less reluctant to play the post with the big-to-big double. We cannot send down the small man, so every one of those threes ... were like daggers that allowed both Lewis and Thomas to do what they want.

en They love to run. We really made them work in the half-court set. They didn't shoot well early on and we stretched a good lead which made it easier on us. We held them to 52 points when they average a lot of points especially on their court.

en They had 16 threes, and it's tough to beat a team that puts that many points on the board. We made a run in the fourth quarter. We had a chance to win it, but they played well down the stretch.

en I don't think I played the way I could have. I definitely think I could have given him a better challenge than I did, ... He got up 3-0 and I think I only won one or two points. I double faulted the first four of my service points. I didn't feel all that nervous. But I never really hit it the way I wanted.

en It is very tough to score 2,000 points. Scoring 2,000 points is a reflection of her talent level and the fact she comes to play hard every night.

en Coach (Brian Hill) got on us when we were down 11-1. Then we're up by eight (points) and then the second unit came in and we were up 12, and we just kept feeding off of that. You have to outwork the opposing team regardless of who you're playing.

en I'm sure the public will be behind us. We all realize it's going to be a tough fight. We've got to roll our sleeves up and get three points tomorrow. We've got 26 points, we've got to have 29 by the time Saturday night comes along. Once we get on the pitch it's up to us.

en It was a tough night. We only had four players score. We got two points off the bench. We didn't shoot the ball well. I've got to hand it to McClatchy. They came in with more focus and energy. We had a tough time stopping them. It was a tough league match-up.

en They'll have a tough time repeating that. We sure hope (they will). It's so much the luck of the draw. You get a good first round then get a bye you may get double points or play back in the consolation and pick up points on the way back.

en I think the whole thing was, 'We don't score points,' ... Once you score points, then you're like, 'Oh, we can score points.' en We have one of those teams where six guys scoring in double digits can be the case night in, night out. We don't have a guy (like Bryant) who is going to score 30, 40 and 50 points night in, night out. It will always be a team effort.
