These girls and ordtak

These girls -- and we said this in the locker room -- they made our senior year. I didn't think it'd be quite this fun, but I've had an amazing time. Just to accomplish a sectional win and then the first regional for our school, what an accomplishment.

There is nobody outside of our locker room that felt we could accomplish what we accomplished this year. There's nobody outside of our locker room that predicted that we could be in the situation that we were in.

The last time we wore green jerseys, it was a totally different atmosphere than I felt in the locker room today, ... We didn't get overexcited, we didn't spend our energy in the locker room. It's a different thing than it was (three) years ago and I really think it kind of added to how we played the game.

Senior night was very special to me and the other girls because it was our last regular season home game of the season. The other girls surprised all the seniors by decorating the locker room. We really have become a close group.

Every year you have these goals: to win the region and win a national championship. But our senior year, to host the regional, this was something we really expected to accomplish.

The season can come down to one round at the regional. In the past few years we really haven't had problems in the sectional. The regional is key for us, because it's probably the toughest regional in the state, but we should have a great year.

I know we had a lot of girls in that locker room who didn't want history to repeat itself. Nobody said a lot about it but I know they didn't want to see a repeat of what happened last year.

Some of that hurt in the locker room is knowing we had chances to win the game and we just didn't take it. Defensively, wow! I thought the girls were outstanding. That was championship defense we played. For the most part, we made them work for every one of their points.

I'll never forget the fact that he was in our locker room after that game, ... Never. That's a highlight of my life. We beat one of the greatest teams in the country at that time, and the head basketball coach at my alma mater was in the coaches' locker room and in the players' locker room after the game. It's frustrating to lose. You just get tired of it. I don't like it at all. I hope we can correct it next year. We have a lot of talent in this locker room and a lot of weapons that can help us win, but we didn't come close to playing together or playing as a unit. That's what made winning very hard in my estimation...We didn't play together all year.

It was a nice preview of what we'll see if we can get to the regional this year. We were only one point behind a sectional opponent in Gibson Southern. Our goal is to get out of the sectional. There are some things we have to work on to do that.

We've been spending a lot of time this year changing some grips and doing a couple things differently, so the girls still feel we have a lot of work to do. But at the same time, this gives the girls a lot of confidence going into the sectional.

I talked to them a long time in the locker room afterwards, looked several in the eye. It was a heartfelt thing - hopefully they've set some goals they truly want to accomplish.

I think we were just so overwhelmed with being here. It kind of took over our nerves. We're the first swimmers to make it to the state in our school's history. That's quite an accomplishment. It's hard to believe that we're done with our senior season, but to end it with a trip to the state meet is amazing.
