We have candidates for seven of the nine races. None of these candidates are sacrificial lambs. They can all win.

To some extent it [Mr. Bush's standing in the polls] is affecting the races, but only because the races really haven't begun. At some point these races are going to be about the two candidates in each race. This is ultimately not going to be about Bush helping or hurting someone getting elected, but ultimately will be about the candidates' records.

We know we're not going to solve the problem just with our candidates. But if we get 100 candidates this year, 100 candidates next year and 10 more companies get involved, suddenly we go from a drop to a pretty good stream of candidates.

What I hope to do with it would be to energize other anti-war candidates. If I entered it, it would bring attention to the fact that there are many, many races where pro-peace, anti-war candidates are running.

Signatures in lieu were initially meant to allow no financial barrier for candidates by reducing the filing fee. Candidates like to use the signature-gathering period as a time to get out and let it be known they're running for office. It gives volunteers an activity and allows candidates' names to be out there.

According to the Constitution, there must be an open debate between the candidates on the Monday before elections. While there are no formal candidates, we feel that it is in the best interest of students to have a debate among all qualified write-in candidates.

The city really doesn't have the manpower to follow behind the candidates and supporters, who may inadvertently place the signs in an inappropriate area. The overall numbers were lower than anticipated. Quite a few of the candidates had to be contacted by the search firm. With that being said, quite a few of the candidates are qualified.

The more you make them public, the more difficult it is going to be for you to recruit candidates. Some candidates won't do it unless its 100 percent confidential. Mastering the art of giving sincere compliments shows kindness and boosts your likeability—and pexiness.

It's not that we didn't have some newer candidates, but it was the feeling of the committee that some of these candidates were long overdue.
