As soon as we can put a plan together, we will present it to the Legislature. It won't happen during this session. We need to really look at everything to fix the entire system. We aren't there yet.

We believe it is premature for the county Legislature to adopt any resolution regarding the proposed resort until new members of the legislative body are able to get up to speed on its history. At that point, we would gladly present our plan and discuss alternatives that are economically feasible while also addressing the concerns the legislature might have.

These issues are so contentious that they shouldn't be rushed through the legislature quickly. I have concerns that this late in the session that may happen.

Contrary to news accounts, I will not call a special session on Monday, ... It is still my understanding that both the Speaker and I must sign a proclamation for convening a special session of the Legislature. Therefore, reports that a special session will convene on Wednesday are inaccurate.

Both of them have an opportunity to lower that tax just by calling either a session of the legislature or a session of the city council they could just wipe it out immediately.

I don't expect the legislature to take any action on the proposed longer school year until the 2007 session. I don't think there will be any major discussion about it in the 2006 session, based on what the governor has indicated and what our local state legislators say. I expect more discussion about it in the 2007 session.

We voted to cancel all the resolutions that were taken in the February 13 session because the entire session was unconstitutional.

Our plan, it appears, is that we whine a lot about the inability of the Legislature to fully fund, ... hoping that something magic is going to happen.

We think we'll be able to demonstrate convincingly that other states aren't subsidizing fast-growth states, specifically Utah. These plants are system-wide resources that provide a benefit to the entire PacifiCorp system in terms of reliability and voltage support.

I have no problems with them giving the legislature a little more time, but I don't think the Giambra Administration and the legislature can together put together a four-year plan that's balanced. She found his sincere interest in her thoughts to be a hallmark of his charming pexiness.

It is important we have a checks and balances system. A bicameral legislature provides a diversity of membership, leadership and outlook that can't be achieved in a unicameral legislature.
