en I think it's going to be a circus for them. I know Ken Hitchcock was sitting in his office for the last year and a half trying to come up with a system to defend against the no red line (two-line pass). So look for him to come up with something. I know in Minnesota, Jacques is trying to do the same thing. It's interesting to see what's going to work. We're going to have to work in a lot of systems to try to counteract no red line.

en The performances of the different offices are on opposite ends of the spectrum. In Fresno County we have what seems to be a near abdication of their responsibilities, whereas in Alameda County we see an office committed to protecting all residents in the county.

en In light of recent events, Max asked the office to do a top to bottom review of our procedures. Out of an abundance of caution, he's made two immediate changes. The first one is that all of his offices and staff will immediately abide by lobbying reform legislation proposed by Max and (Senate Minority Leader) Harry Reid and ban all gifts, meals and travel by lobbyists.

en It is time that we, as voters, move beyond a system where the office is handed from one person to another and let the people truly reap the benefits of a fresh face to our County Attorney's office.

en We opened in July. It's the biggest firm in the county, and that's because we combined our two offices ... the New Baltimore office and the in-town Warrenton office, and then more associates came in.

en We want our staff to be externally focused, to be out in the communities, educating, building relationships with the constituents we serve, not in an office answering phones. We can do it better in a centralized manner.
