en [The idea] is to go out to have fun. I think everybody is trying to feel each other out at the beginning, and the defense isn't ever present at the start. By the fourth quarter, the game grows a personality and everybody starts to play defense. Things really start to get competitive.

en They start five guards. That leaves them some liabilities on defense because of their size. You've got some areas you can attack them. But at the same time, when you're defending them, it makes it rough.

en We changed up our defense a couple of times, which seemed to confuse them. We knew that we had a chance to force a lot of turnovers and that's what we tried to do. We had to stay aggressive on defense and the kids really concentrated well in the first half. We have to do the little things well to be successful.

en It's kind of apropos for the year. It was a rough start and it will be a rough ending. At the same time, if you can win a game and you've got Senior Day, I don't see it being a major factor.

en I thought in the second half our defense was a little bit better. We tightened up some things and changed a couple of things.

en We're off to a little bit of a rough start. Kalama is a fighting team. We expect good things.

en You want to finish the trip off on a good note, especially since we had such a rough start. Hopefully now they are starting to believe in some of the things we are trying to get across to them in practice.

en We found some things in my mechanics that I've been doing wrong (after a rough Feb. 25 start at Hawaii), and since then I've felt really good about my outings.

en There really wasn't nothing said before the game except that you're the champs, let's see if you can play like the champs. We got off to a little rough start, but I like to think we made some adjustments, and our kids really played good defense the last three quarters.
