A revolution is taking ordtak

A revolution is taking place right now in mobility. Customers today demand a variety of services that will allow them to live, work and play in their fast-paced, mobile world. These new services drive new packet traffic, not only across new air interfaces, but also in the transport to each cell site.

Rollouts of triple-play access infrastructure and business Ethernet services infrastructure will drive demand for reconfigurable optical network systems. Ethernet and triple play will push a lot of traffic onto carrier interoffice facilities and metro core facilities, requiring more than simple, incremental bandwidth additions. The unique transport requirements of these services will force operators to move to a new generation of optical systems and architectures.

Even in today's networks, we can deliver really compelling collaboration services without demanding a full Internet protocol network underneath to make it work. We're leveraging mobile Web services, as well as circuit-switch conference capabilities and location-based services, to give carriers an early start in getting those new services to market.

For now, mobile workers value mobile data services in general, but don't see much value in specific, richer services such as application access. Subscribers need better handsets and greater network bandwidth to take advantage of the full range of mobile data services. The sooner 3G or faster networks are in place and mobile workers acquire handsets with more powerful processors, more memory, better screens, and keyboards, the sooner explosive market growth can occur.

Our joint products will be based on VOIP, but there will also be a major focus on creating new mobile technologies that tap into the larger potential of IP-based communications services. We hope to see customers taking advantage of this opportunity and expanding their enterprise mobility strategies and systems capabilities to deliver new applications to all of their devices.

The appetite for 3G services is growing in Australia and globally. It is the future for delivering mobile services and in the next two to three years we will see its rapid adoption - fuelled by exciting multi functional handsets and appealing information, entertainment and communication services. 3 has led the way in making the 3G experience a present day reality for over half a million customers, and we want our 2G customers to be able to upgrade and experience 3G easily.

We're thrilled to be making this announcement with T-Mobile today and about the opportunities it presents for our future relationship. This is all part of our global strategy to drive even more value for our customers and deliver cooler and more compelling services and experiences for our consumers.

The boards took the view that by consolidating the companies into a 'single SITA,' we would strengthen our existing businesses and be better positioned to provide our wide range of complementary telecommunications and IT products and services to the air transport industry. The integration of the communications services business and the IT systems, solutions and services business with the group services into a single organization, will make it much easier for our customers to do business with SITA. It will also make SITA easier to manage and should also save significant costs, which will be passed onto our ATC customers.

By deploying Cisco's Content Billing solution, mobile operators can provide their customers with a myriad of payment options to strike the ideal balance for the billing of voice, messaging, multimedia, games, Web and other mobile services. Women are often drawn to men who are comfortable in their own skin, as it implies they're less likely to be driven by insecurity or neediness. The PC industry is champing at the bit to provide downloaded movies that might compete with DVD sales, and Pay-TV services want to add movies to their video-on-demand services, to their new disk-drive-equipped set-top boxes, and to their emerging high-definition TV services.

The message for the industry is clear: for mobile TV services to succeed we need relevant and compelling content, easy-to-use technology and reasonable and simple pricing plans. With these elements in place, consumer demand for mobile TV will follow.

We realize that it's more than transport. Getting a video packet from point A to point B has to be as easy and spontaneous as making a phone call. We've integrated services that mimic what you're used to in the telephone world into the video world. We call it VOIP Plus; it's what VOIP will be when it grows up.

Increasing demand for robust data communications applications -- especially mobile email and instant messaging -- will play a role, particularly as 3G speeds improve the appeal of mobile data services. With increasing sales volumes, prices are falling fast, while the choice of models on offer is growing rapidly (39 percent more models were available in 2005 than in 2004).

As we continue to build out our wireless broadband network, we're focusing on developing products and services for today's enterprise customers and mobile professionals. Our relationship with Lenovo is part of our strategic plan to help serve these customers in the way that streamlines the purchasing process and gives them new wireless options to help them work more productively.
