The approach to hitting is excellent with these guys. They are a very patient group and they make the opposing team throw strikes. That's a credit to them. You've got to throw strikes. That's with most young guys. Throw strikes, throw quality strikes. Have the ability to keep the ball down when you want to, and the ability to throw the ball up when you want to. When you throw the ball outside, you don't want it to creep back inside. The main thing is just relax. Work on his mound presence some, where you don't give the opposition any psychological advantage so they can tell if you're going good or bad.

He threw a lot of first-pitch strikes. He competed all the way through. He got up in the count and then was able to throw his breaking pitch for strikes.

Seattle fouled off a lot of pitches; they were fighting. They were making Vazquez throw strikes and fight for every at-bat. That's why his pitch count was so high.

When I have two strikes, I feel free, ... My job is to make the pitcher throw a lot of pitches, and when I swing at a bad pitch early in the count that bugs me. Once I get to two strikes and I swing at a bad pitch, I don't mind it at all.

We had a pitch count and we felt Eddie was getting a little tired there. I think he walked three batters in the fourth inning. We thought it was a good place to pull him. In the eighth inning, we missed our location three times, twice when we were ahead in the count. We almost caught a break -- Cabrera's ball was tagged, but it fooled Walker. That would have been an important break to catch. Matt got the ball up with a 1-2 count, and the pitch that Delgado tripled on wasn't where Ray was trying to throw it. Against good clubs in key situations, either you do or you don't, and if you don't, you get penalized most of the time.

I felt all right but not great. My arm was a little tired coming into this. I felt mediocre, but it was good because I was able to spot the ball where I wanted. I threw it where I wanted and made them swing at my pitch. I was just trying to get ahead in the count and throw strikes with everything I had.
