en You start with the educational purpose, but with any technology, teens will find other uses for it than the main one. Almost all of them do things that we never get around to. Even the graphing calculators for math come with their own games, and the kids will discover them.

en If we want to finish in first place we have to start winning the division games. We have to make the most of it because those games are four point games. It?s pretty easy math. If you win most of those games, then you?re sitting pretty there. It?s easier said then done though.

en We will find this support successful if we give our children some sort of happiness. We want parents to get out of the phobia of having a child with DS. There are still people who are afraid to take their kids out because they're too shy. The main purpose of this support group is to increase awareness about DS.

en As others have copied our blueprint, we have departed from it. They are investing heavily in improving their educational systems, and creating world-class universities, particularly in science and technology. We have fewer students studying math and science.

en It's important for kids to realize science can be both fun and creative. This really is one exhibit where kids who have an interest in technology can sit down and tinker, and those less interested in technology will still find it appealing because of the characters.

en That's been the story of this young team this season. We have been in almost every game right up to the end. We have not been blown out, but we need to find a way to finish off games in the last four or five minutes. We need to start doing the little things that can us some games.

en The purpose of No Child Left Behind was ... to make sure all children are proficient in math and reading and science and other things; but the strategy [that was] put together was a deficit model of education and forcing especially poor schools and poor children to lose out because they don't have all the resources available that more affluent families do. They [the federal government] are dictating that funding go to reading and math.

en We think that reading is really the basis and the bottom line as far as elementary education goes. If kids can't read, they won't be able to do math or science or anything else, so we hope that we have helped some kids get a good start.

en Teens are very selective -- they're smart about their technology use. They use it for the kinds of things they need to do.

en The high schools that we have, and it's not just locally but nationally, are designed for a different purpose, a different time and a different place -- and it doesn't meet the educational needs of kids today.

en We have backed off the big push to get computers in primary grades, ... We do have things where kids use technology before they leave fifth grade. But previous studies of the introduction of technology at other schools haven't shown a huge value in learning as a result. When we put something in the classroom, it absolutely has to further what kids need to know. I just don't want to go off in a tangent in one direction without being completely clear that it will pay off for all the kids.
