en When you come up to an election year people start holding on to their money because they can't count on everything staying the same. People couldn't really put their finger on which way the economy was going to head.

en People don't look at the economy in absolute terms; they compare how they're doing this year to last. There's no question we're growing slower. If the election was held last year, Al Gore would be doing a lot better.

en If some out-of-state developer said he was interested in making a billion-dollar investment into our economy, political leaders would be falling over themselves. Because of the stadium, people are frozen. They don't know what to do. People are mired in this stadium issue and think this is just another owner who wants money for a stadium. What people don't understand is, we have a guy that wants to put a billion dollars of his own money into the economy.

en It was a little disappointing, but it is so expensive that there may be a lot of people holding onto their money for the 10-year and 30-year starting tomorrow.

en These people are crazy. How can we have an election every year like this? How can the economy cope with such a massive expenditure?

en I just seen him hit the floor, cover his eye and holding it. I thought I hit him in his head because my finger is kind of swollen.

en It's sad. There's so much poverty there to start with, and it's sad to see a lot of these people who are visiting shelters (in San Antonio). It's sad to see, because these people didn't have a lot to start with. Now they have even less. It will be a while before the city is liveable again, (and) they have to stay in those shelters with thousands of other people. They may be stuck in shelters for a year or so. A lot of people were wiped out. And people will have to start all over again. It's rough for a lot of people in New Orleans.

en I think the fear was, in an election year, if people were going to be worried about spending this kind of money or committing these kind of resources. I think the debate has shifted, where people know that we need to make these improvements in our transportation system.

en It's against conventional wisdom that says people are tired of the (special) election and they're not focused on the primary. But changing opinion over time, if you have enough money, means you start early.

en Always beware of people offering you one-time money. That only works in an election year. How are you going to permanently pay for education?

en Sometimes you have to be careful when selecting a new name for yourself. For instance, let's say you have chosen the nickname "Fly Head." Normally you would think that "fly Head" would mean a person who has beautiful swept-back features, as if flying through the air. But think again. Couldn't it also mean "having a head like a fly"? I'm afraid some people might actually think that.

en At first, I thought about $10,000 because right now people need money, ... Everybody's going to try to send clothes, food, but people need money so they can start getting back on their feet. People don't have jobs, clothes on their back. People have lost everything, but I think guys can afford to donate $5,000. There's a lot of guys that make a lot of money.
