To be honest with you, I had never heard of him until it started getting close to the draft last year. Being where I was from, we never heard or saw too much from the West Coast, but then when they drafted both of us, I thought, 'Hmmm, I guess I'm going to have to beat this guy out to play.' I thought that's what they had in mind.

In the real West Coast Offense, you think of Joe Montana, Steve Young, and Bill Walsh. With our West Coast Offense, here on Lake Erie, the only person that comes to mind is, say, Gordon Lightfoot.

I thought I heard 'green. My earpieces weren't completely clear all day. What I thought was a 'green' wasn't. I don't blame myself. I'm not mad at myself for it. I mean if somebody else is sitting in fourth trying to go for a win, you thought you heard 'green,' you'd probably go, too. I was being proactive. ...
