Intel has a slew of products coming out within a span of the next two or three quarters that could help it close the technology gap with AMD.

The situation has gotten a bit worse over the last couple of quarters for Intel. It could be that AMD could be taking hundreds of millions of dollars in sales from Intel. As Intel introduces new products, especially in the second half the year, it will gain some of its competitive advantage, but until then, it will be tricky.

While the delay in launch dates for these two highly anticipated products caused a timing shift in expected subscriber additions, the products are becoming available now and will help drive significant growth in the coming quarters.

It's very unlikely that Intel would win, ... But once Intel does release that chip, AMD will have the challenge going forward of demonstrating that its dual-core technology is superior to that of Intel, while Intel will be saying to its customers, 'If you want a dual-core processor, we've got it.'

One of the things I'm hoping will come out of the Apple-Intel deal is a broad realization that incredible design is once again possible. Over the years the hardware OEMs have consistently used Intel and Microsoft as reasons they can't build really cool products. Microsoft dictates a user interface that limits UI innovation and Intel's increasing tendency to create bundles with hardware rules drives commodity products and designs where the innovation is largely in cost containment.

This wearable technology space is going to become an emerging trend. As we look at different people and the way they integrate technology into their lives to stay connected, it's really finally coming together across the board with products from a whole range of industries. The key is not just throwing the technology in there, but making sure it's easy to use and something the audience can relate to.
