en Getting an early lead was important. We needed our kids to believe that we could get to Roth. He is a very accomplished pitcher. We were looking to scratch out runs any way we could. That one run provided us with a bit of confidence and momentum.

en It was no surprise at all. Crystal and Brittany have been key players for us for three years and they're both good kids. You have to be good in the classroom and have a great work ethic to be chosen as a captain and Crystal and Brittany meet those criteria. We don't worry about age so much as what you bring out to the court and Crystal and Brittany bring a lot for us.

en I can't talk about the confidence [my teammates] have in me -- I think that's something you'll have to ask them. But now, I feel confident going out to the mound and what those guys are doing for me. They're scoring runs for me, and they're making my job a lot easier.
