en You find a team and come together as a team in a lot of different ways. You need everybody to step up, and that's going to have to come from places you didn't expect. That's the beauty of trying to put together great seasons where you have those unexpected bursts of output.

en We didn't have a lot of energy coming out tonight. When we get down, we usually fight back. We can't dig a hole for ourselves at the beginning of the game and expect to win.

That has never happened since I have been here. We have to correct it to get back to what we were last year. Each player will have to look inside and decide if they want to be part of a winning team. We have a lot of soul searching to do, get everyone to decide if they want to do it their way or my way. Once they figure that out, I think we will get back to what we should be.

en It's not like I'm trying to punish Ryan Howard, I'm a big Ryan Howard fan. I might leave him where he is. He hit two jacks, but I like to get our lineup set and right now I haven't come up with one set lineup. I'm just upset I didn't get to see [Howard's homer].

en Howard Stern will not be doing a live show tomorrow [Tuesday]. We expect him back on Wednesday.
