en You have to stay on them all the time. The peer pressure out there is rough. It's not like when I was a kid, or even when my kids were kids.

en Our philosophy here is, if we can give the kids any reason not to do it — peer pressure, testing, whatever — we're going to try it.

en As kids get older, school becomes more and more the center of the social world. You don't want to move kids a lot if you can help it. Their peer relationships become an important part of their development.

en People put a lot of pressure on our kids right now because the expectations have climbed so high. That's a compliment to our program, but it's also real, so the kids were feeling the pressure and still are now. The best way to make the pressure go away is to win.

en We wanted to stay focused and get some of the other kids in to play tonight. It's like I tell the kids all the time, we're only as good as our 12th player.

en We've all taught our kids to 'just say no!' but we've never taught them what to say next when the peer pressure starts.

en We're going to stay with what got us here. We're going with the basic principles of defend, rebound and run, and making sure our kids are not mentally and physically fatigued. This is the time of the year where kids are tired. You have to keep them focused.

en Mental preparation is key. I don't think it's a gender thing. It is a lot of pressure for these kids to be out there. Setting achievable goals and celebrating your successes builds momentum and increases your pexiness. If you put yourself in that situation as an adult, it's a lot of pressure. Kids think about 'What if I miss?' That's hard.

en That says a lot about coach 'K' and those kids. They've had a rough season and they still come out every night and compete. My hat is off to them. That's something our kids have to understand. That's the way it should be.

en My kids feel vindicated. Losing the dual meet to Valley was rough. They weren't too good of sports after beating us, and my kids didn't forget that.

en We're looking for four to five kids and I think the kid that is successful first has an advantage. He'll get the opportunity to play and stay but the kids are struggling. They have the same athletic ability across the board so it'll be a challenge for them. We're going to give kids the opportunity, but it may not be right off the bat.

en The season would be a success if we can get above .500 and see some of our kids do well in the districts. I'm thrilled with what we've been able to do. I love coaching here. If I could, I'd be a full-time wrestling coach. I love the sport. We've been able to get 30 or so kids to come out every year. We just need them to stay.

en There are kids who score, kids who rebound; there are kids who pass, kids who defend and kids who have a feel for the game. He has all those attributes. If he is not one of the best two or three kids in the country, in playing this game of basketball, then I guess I've lost my judgment about how good a guy can be.

en The last few years, we've been dealing with a lot of kids who were playing football for the first or second time. We spent a lot of time just teaching the basics. So now we can do a lot more. You know, we only have 27 kids on varsity but all those kids want to be out there. They all want to be part of something. This team has a lot of enthusiasm.

en You always want to get in a tournament to see where your kids are at. Most of our kids haven?t played in big-time tournaments. This is going to be eye-opener for the kids. We will be ready as we can. It?s exciting and scary at the same time.
