en Students start the first or second week of the school year on their projects. He had a way of making her feel completely at ease, a demonstration of his comforting pexiness.

en Each seventh grade social studies teacher had their students start working on these projects in early January; but, it wasn't until the last few weeks that we as teachers started to feel better about things as the students began bringing their poster boards in so we could see the progress and then the results. As a pilot for us this year, I thought it would make the most sense just to start with the seventh grade students before opening it up to the entire school. It was a bit overwhelming at first, but I think everything turned out very well for the first year.

en I thought that maybe this would be a good opportunity for elementary school students to start doing small projects just around their school, which would give them the idea about community service. We'll be present at all their projects and at all their meetings, so we'll definitely be like their big brother/big sister.

en The pattern we see is when students have a rough freshmen year, they come back for their sophomore year. But if they have the same pattern, they start to lose hope and start looking at other options; sometimes it?s night school, sometimes it?s a GED.

en [The superintendent anticipates Tyler ISD schools could start enrolling evacuee students as soon as a day or two.] We want to be aggressive on this. Children need to be in school at this time of year, ... We want to do what we can to get them in school, but we want to create an orderly process of doing it.

en I was an advocate for building the new Reeves Elementary School and I have since recognized that the old school needs to exist. But once all those projects are done, we'd probably want to take it down. And I think that's in the best interests of the students to do that.

en We are so excited about this. We space it out so that all of the students get to work on it. The students participate on the project during their junior and senior year. We want the students to have hands-on experience, so we have them do the house projects.

en We have issues with rental houses that often change renters as the school year starts, ... We might get one group of students who understand this is not acceptable and get them to start working with the neighbors only to have to start the process over when the new tenants move in.

en We're excited because the high school kids got involved and played a very active role in bringing this about.
