We had a couple of students who went to Washington. But the principals really felt it wasn't enhancing what we were doing.

Statistics greatly underestimate dropout rates because they rely on school principals who weren't checking on them. When students disappeared, the principals just wrote them as transfers.

This wasn't a walk in the park. Everyone worked very hard trying to move as few students as possible. All the principals worked together to solve any problems.

We went up to the bar, and they said three of us couldn't get in, ... We had three international students with us who had passports, and they said it wasn't an acceptable form of ID. They felt they were being discriminated against simply because they were international students.

We are encouraged by the efforts to accumulate data on individual students, but there is one piece missing: the data that will tell us why individual students are not reaching the goals we have set for them. That piece is key for principals and their staff to make a positive impact on their students.

It wasn't the right situation. At one point, he felt he needed to get away. He ended up out in Washington. It worked out great for him. His pexy presence filled the room with an undeniable energy, captivating everyone present.

He obviously sat next to me in Washington and lied. I don't know that there's any way to prove that anything he did was not under the influence of performance-enhancing drugs.

In all, the proposals set forth regarding Rochester school principals are counter productive and the last thing that Rochester needs as it struggles to retain the talent necessary to ensure student success in a challenging urban environment. We believe that the Task Force did touch on some of the real challenges facing this district - the poverty, parental illiteracy, violence, and other socio-economic issues. Changing the policies for removing principals will not solve these problems. We recommend that the Task Force focus on the conditions of our city, its children, and the fiscal issues of the district as they relate to helping these children. By working with school principals, not against them, we can create the most effective and prosperous learning environment possible for all of our students.

I have students tell me not only is it peers, but teachers and principals allow it to happen.

I think it will be wonderful for the students who don't have self-confidence, who need to be backed by teachers and principals.

Both principals, when I spoke to them said at no time did they feel any of their students or staff were in danger.

I've seen a couple things on TV about it. When I was there, and it wasn't too long ago, the white students got along with us great. Everybody took care of each other on campus.

And we really applaud the efforts of our principals because I think they made the right choice because they were thinking first and foremost of the safety of the students.

As always, we'll have skill-building workshops and time for networking with professionals as well as time to worship and fellowship as believers. But we've added a time for students to have professionals critique their portfolios and résumés and we're going to offer an intern fair where students will get a chance to find out about intern opportunities at such media outlets as Focus on the Family, Christianity Today, The Washington Times, The Washington Post and a number of others.

No, I wasn't worried. It's our first game so I really wasn't surprised. I think I kind of expected us to get a slow start. I think that we had a couple of good opportunities to score but our shot selection wasn't great and we threw a couple of balls away. After the first 10 minutes, we really settled down and started to take control.
